An island votes on its own future

The future of Greenland will be decided in Greenland: This is the response of Greenland's Prime Minister Múte B. Egede to US President Donald Trump, ever since he started touting his ownership claims to Greenland . On Tuesday, the population of the geopolitically coveted island will elect a new parliament. 31 seats are up for grabs in the national assembly. There are only around 56,000 people living in Greenland.

The most important election of all time, they say, not least in Denmark. The question of Greenlandic independence was already one of the most important before Trump started verbally attacking Greenland.
