Hamas chief: Israel is responsible for lack of progress in cease-fire talks

Ismail Haniyeh made the comments in a statement on Saturday, after talks on a prisoner swap and a ceasefire deal reached an impasse. "The resistance will not be satisfied with anything less than a complete cessation of aggression, the withdrawal of the occupying army from Gaza and the lifting of the oppressive siege," Haniyeh said. He further noted that Hamas will act responsibly in the negotiations and will not ignore the sacrifices and achievements of the resistance, stressing that the establishment of a prisoner exchange agreement, under which the old prisoners will be released, is one of the goals of negotiations. The Hamas chief also stressed that the resistance group will use all means to stop the bloodshed of the Israeli regime against the defenseless Palestinian nation. Multilateral negotiations in Cairo to reach a cease-fire agreement between Hamas and the Israeli regime are said to have yielded no results.
