HRW: The West continues to provide Israel with weapons while it is discussing sending aid to Gaza

Since the beginning of the war on October 7, the amount of weapons sent to Israel has increased, with most of the weapons being used to strengthen the areas of Gaza as well as kill, maim and make the residents of the area homeless.

Akshaya Kumar, director of conflict advocacy at Human Rights Watch, said, "On the one hand, we have this great humanitarian need, on the other hand, we have this constant supply of weapons to the country of Israel, causing that need".

Kumar explained by saying "while recently the Western countries have been making great efforts to make Israel realize that it is involved in causing the suffering we see in Gaza, we do not see a reduction in the flow of weapons from those countries like the United States, Germany and others".

The main suppliers of weapons to Israel have focused on sending aid to Gaza to reach the Palestinians who are being attacked with the many weapons that these countries have provided to the Zionist regime.

This is in a situation where, in terms of providing weapons to other countries, international laws have set rules and agreements to control who gives weapons to whom and what those weapons are used for.

Under the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide - which the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in January that the killings may be taking place in Gaza - states are legally bound to prevent genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

As a result of continuing the process of providing weapons to Israel, legal experts and human rights defenders question whether Western countries are not at risk of being accused of participating in the genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza?.../
