In an interview with France 24 on Sunday, Elder said: "The four-day cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hamas has allowed us to provide the most assistance to the northern Gaza Strip over the past month." He stressed that this assistance should not be stopped in the next two days, and the Israeli regime should not return to bombing children in Palestinian territory. Elder added: "We need a lasting ceasefire, otherwise we will only see destruction and the death of children." According to Human Rights Watch, nearly 15,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since October 7, including 8,176 children.
