American society has always been a fascinating subject for sociologists.

Although the process of secularization and the removal of religious elements from educational and social structures began much earlier in the U.S. than in European countries, Americans, on the whole, remain far more religious than many other Western societies.

This deep-rooted religiosity has long played a major role in America’s popular support for Israel.

Many American Christians believe that the Second Coming of Christ will only occur once a Jewish state is firmly established in the so-called Promised Land.

Despite the U.S. being a secular state, this belief has been systematically promoted and reinforced.

As a result, most American administrations have enjoyed solid public backing in their support of Israel.

But times have changed. According to a recent CNN poll, only 23% of Americans now support Israel's military actions in Gaza.

Among Americans under 35, the opposition rate is a staggering 90%, making them the most anti-Israel demographic by far.

Such polls reveal a dramatic transformation in U.S. public opinion — a shift that could signal the beginning of a major realignment in how the American government shapes its Middle East policies in the coming decades.
