Shooting at Peace: How Israel Turned a Humanitarian Convoy into a Battlefield
*Shooting at Peace: How Israel Turned a Humanitarian Convoy into a Battlefield*
The “Sumud Flotilla” was a coalition of multinational ships scheduled to head toward the shores of Gaza in the coming days.
After failing in earlier flotilla attempts, Palestinian rights activists and freedom advocates from across the globe, sought this time to break the Gaza blockade through a global naval effort.
But despite all preparations, in the early hours of September 9, Israel launched a drone strike on the flotilla’s main vessel.
The attack caused a fire in part of the ship, endangering the lives of several members of the *Sumud* team, though they were rescued.
These ships had no military purpose; they were prepared solely to deliver food supplies to the people of Gaza.
While the people of the Middle East are already well aware of Israel’s true nature, the Zionist regime—after committing genocide in Gaza—seems to have abandoned even the pretense of maintaining its image in Western public opinion.
Citizens of Western countries who once stood, tears in their eyes, applauding Israel while the credits of *Schindler’s List* rolled, are now left stunned:
Before them stands an apartheid regime with no respect for moral boundaries.
Through this military strike, Israel aimed to instill fear.
Yet it seems unlikely that the members of the *Sumud Flotilla* will back down from their mission.
