Still a King: Trump Ignores Public Opinion amid U.S. Protests

*Still a King: Trump Ignores Public Opinion amid U.S. Protests*

Recently, protests titled “No to Kingship” erupted in several U.S. cities.

This ironic slogan reflects the depth of public opposition to Trump’s decisions.

Many Americans feel that the United States no longer resembles a truly democratic country.

Nowadays, public opinion seems to have little influence over the planning and decisions of government officials.

For instance, the latest survey by the YouGov institute in the U.S. revealed that nearly half of Americans—around 46%—oppose regime change in Venezuela and the involvement of the U.S. military in Venezuela’s domestic affairs.

Another 36% remained neutral, leaving only 18% in favor of Trump’s plan to intervene.

Despite this overwhelming opposition, Trump continues to act like a self-styled monarch, pursuing only his own ideas and those of his hardline allies.
