82 days of strike, Palestinian Adnan risks dying
Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan, 44, entered his 82nd consecutive day of hunger strike today to protest his unjust detention by the Israeli occupation authorities. The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) warned, in a notes, that Adnan could die at any time as a result of his hunger strike, noting that he is being held in the Ramla prison clinic and is in very serious condition.
The PPS added that Adnan is at a very risky stage for his life, and that the Israeli authorities refuse to comply with his demands. Adnan was arrested on February 5 and has been on hunger strike ever since. Over the past 20 years, Adnan was arrested 12 times by the Israeli occupation authorities and spent a total of 8 years behind bars. He went on hunger strike four times while in detention. His 67-day strike in 2012 inspired a multitude of Palestinian prisoners in administrative detention to follow his example.
