About 170 Rohingya refugees arrive in Indonesia
A group of about 170 Rohingya Muslim refugees, including women and children, have arrived at the borders of Indonesia. The regional head of the Aceh fishing community in Indonesia, Miftah Cut Ade has said that about 170 Rohingyas arrived at the country's land borders yesterday Saturday . The leader said that most of the people who arrived by boat from Myanmar are women and children . The Rohingya, who are mostly Muslim, make dangerous sea journeys every year in an attempt to reach Malaysia or Indonesia . Last year, the organization estimated that nearly 200 Rohingya died or went missing during the dangerous sea crossings . In March, 184 Rohingya refugees also arrived in the eastern Aceh town of Peureulak after being abandoned at sea and forced to swim to shore . At the same time, the Muslim refugees of the Rohingya community in refugee camps in Bangladesh are facing dire conditions and even the risk of death due to the reduction in aid they were receiving . Thousands of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar have been killed and thousands of others injured since the start of a new wave of attacks by the army and Buddhist extremists in the Rakhine region in the west of the country since August 25, 2017 . The mass killings against Muslims in Myanmar have led more than half a million of them to flee their country and seek asylum in the neighboring country of Bangladesh.
