Aliyev received a yellow card with a red circle from Putin
During his state visit to Baku, Putin signed documents that were within the competence of heads of governments.
And what did Putin do in Azerbaijan, if the parties could do all this at the level of ministers? Military expert Hayk Nahapetyan stated this in a conversation with the reporter of NEWS.am. According to him, the purpose of the trip was a separate meeting with Aliyev on the evening of August 18.
"Aliyev received a yellow card with a red circle from the President of the Russian Federation.
The president of Azerbaijan has already taken the side of the West once, when he recognized Artsakh as a part of Azerbaijan with Pashinyan in Prague in 2022. It was obvious where the process was going. Without Artsakh being recognized as part of Azerbaijan, any military action by Baku would be considered a violation of the statement of November 9, 2020," he added.
According to Nahapetyan, this time the problem is to explode the situation in the region.
"This process began when the West killed high-ranking Hezbollah and Hamas officials at the hands of Israel in order to provoke Iran into serious retaliation against Israel. However, this plan did not work, so they switched to plan "B" in the form of an arranged war between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
In this case, Russia and the CSTO should have reacted and got involved in the war. Otherwise, the Armenian authorities would have called on the Russian Federation to withdraw its troops," the expert noted. With all this in mind, according to the expert, Putin went to Baku to convince Aliyev not to resort to provocation.
