Aqaba summit: Rescuing Israel from an impending doom?

On February 26, a peculiar security meeting was held in Aqaba, Jordan, as deep political divisions, massive rallies against Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet, and, of course, Palestinian resistance operations brought Israel to the verge of final collapse. Delegates from the United States, Jordan, and Egypt, as well as the Palestinian Authority, gathered in Aqaba, Jordan, for a security conference described by Israeli media as an "urgent and extraordinary security meeting."

The participation of high-ranking Palestinian Ramallah-based officials at the Aqaba security conference has been vehemently criticised by Palestinian resistance movements, who saw it as a betrayal of the Palestinian cause. The Palestinian resistance factions underlined that the Mahmoud Abbas-led Palestinian Authority should put national unity above any security pact with Israel and that the Aqaba summit was convened as a favour to the Zionist regime rather than for the sake of the Palestinian nation.

\On Sunday, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip will hold a national assembly to deliberate on their future strategies.
Following the escalation of the political crisis in Israel as a result of the provocative policies of the Zionist regime's extremist cabinet led by Benjamin Netanyahu, the US government appears to be concerned about the possibility of a third Palestinian intifada, particularly in light of the strengthening of resistance operations on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan.

After meeting with Palestinian and Israeli leaders, CIA Director William Burns raised concerns over the political and security instability in the occupied Palestinian territory. Mr. Burns has reportedly compared Israel's present condition to the days preceding the second Palestinian intifada.Since the beginning of 2023, the Zionist troops have murdered over sixty Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank, including thirteen children.
In light of this, the convening of the Aqaba summit has enraged Palestinians, who believe its purpose is to sow discord among Palestinians and suppress resistance groups in the occupied West Bank.

Many Palestinians believe that the Palestinian Authority has become a refuge for corrupt and unscrupulous politicians who have abandoned the path of resistance against the Zionist occupiers.
Analysts fear that the Aqaba Conference will internationally authorise Tel Aviv to continue murdering and wounding Palestinian civilians. The Arabic-language newspaper Rai al-Youm revealed that the Aqaba summit was the first step toward reviving the so-called political process to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Rai al-Youm also indicated that the United States might have held the Aqaba meeting in preparation for the handing over the administration of the Gaza Strip to the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority, with Egypt's assistance.
