Armed criminals kidnap more than 100 people in Nigeria
Armed criminals have kidnapped more than 100 people in two new attacks in northwest Nigeria, weeks after 250 schoolchildren were kidnapped in the country.
These more than 100 people are alleged to have been kidnapped by gangs of criminals known in Nigeria as bandits following the kidnapping cases they did in Kajuru area of Kaduna state several days ago. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria is facing internal pressure following the successive large cases of kidnapping in the country.
These criminals regularly attack ordinary citizens in the north-west and north-central parts of Nigeria where they rob rural citizens and carry out large-scale kidnappings in exchange for giving them money. These cases of abduction of citizens by criminal gangs have led to the displacement of at least one million people. This is according to the United Nations report.
Ibrahim Gajere, the chairman of the local government, said that last night, armed men kidnapped 87 people in Kajuru station. After abducting them, the criminals began to take citizens out of their homes and kidnap them.
At the same time, Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna state, has met with the representatives of the parents of the students who were abducted a few days ago and said he is doing everything he can to free the children.
A relative of the family said that the kidnappers wanted to be paid a lot of money to return the students, but last week President Tinubu of Nigeria said that he had instructed the security agencies not to pay the money.
