The Ministry of Defense of Armenia has confirmed that it is receiving advisory support from the United States, following recent statements by US Deputy Secretary of State Uzra Zeya. This development highlights ongoing collaboration between the two nations in the realm of military reforms and strategic partnership.
In a statement provided to "Armenpress," the Armenian Ministry of Defense acknowledged the involvement of US military advisors as part of its efforts to modernize and reform the Armenian Armed Forces. The advisory support, which may vary in duration, is part of a broader initiative involving both the United States and other international allies.
"The advisory support from the USA is integral to the ongoing reforms within the Armenian Armed Forces," the Ministry's statement read. "While specific details about the nature and scope of the assistance have not been disclosed, it is part of our commitment to enhancing our defense capabilities in collaboration with international partners."
US Deputy Secretary of State Uzra Zeya had earlier announced on July 18 that an American military representative would be embedded within the Armenian Ministry of Defense. This move underscores the strengthening of defense ties between the two countries.
In addition to this bilateral cooperation, Armenia and the United States recently conducted the "Artsiv Partner-2024" joint military exercise from July 15 to 24. This exercise marked a significant step in enhancing military interoperability and strategic coordination between the two nations' armed forces.
The Armenian Ministry of Defense has yet to provide further details on the specific roles and responsibilities of the American advisors. However, the increased engagement reflects a broader trend of military collaboration aimed at improving defense strategies and operational effectiveness within Armenia.
