Balkans: the Albanian premier visiting the countries of the region
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama concluded a two-day tour of the Balkans to meet leaders of the region as part of the Berlin Process, the initiative launched in 2014 by then German Chancellor Angela Merkel aimed at fostering Balkan cooperation and supporting European perspectives of the region. In fact, the capital of Albania, Tirana, will host the next summit of the Berlin Process on 16 October. Nova News reports it.
It will be the first time that one of the Process's target countries will host an edition of the summit. In the first stage, in North Macedonia, Rama met his counterpart Dimitar Kovacevski and asked, in the joint press conference, to give "new impetus" and "focus more" on the Berlin Process. “We should wholeheartedly support the Berlin process and I really hope that this can be directly related to a new financing plan of the European Union, for the implementation of which we need Germany, first of all, and of course other countries” , declared the Albanian premier.
