Beijing criticizes new Washington sanctions against Chinese companies
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement that the new sanctions imposed by the United States against certain Chinese institutions and individuals under the pretext of cooperation with Iran's military programs are unfounded.
On Tuesday, June 6, the US Treasury Department announced sanctions against 13 new individuals and entities in Iran, China and Hong Kong in connection with the Iranian missile program.
The Chinese newspaper Global Times, citing the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, wrote on its Twitter page that recent US sanctions against certain Chinese institutions and individuals under the pretext of their role in Iran's military and missile programs are unfounded.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce stressed that Beijing will take the necessary measures to protect the interests and legal rights of Chinese companies.
Recently, Washington imposed sanctions on 12 other Chinese companies under the pretext of "supporting the Russian military and defense industry."
