Biden allowed Ukraine to attack Russian territories with American weapons
US President Joe Biden has relaxed the ban he had placed on Ukraine and allowed it to use Washington's weapons to attack inside Russian territory to help it protect its northeastern region of Kharkiv from attacks.
The decision marks a change in the policy of Biden, who previously refused to allow Kyiv to use American weapons outside the borders of Ukraine, and it is taken while France and other European countries have indicated that they will allow Ukraine to use their weapons to target military sites inside Russian soil.
With that decision, Kyiv will be authorized to attack military positions on the border with Kharkiv region, several of whose villages were captured by Russia since May 10, forcing thousands of people to flee their homes.
This comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin warned on Tuesday of what he called "significant negative consequences", emphasizing his country's nuclear power and capabilities, if Ukraine's Western allies loosen their previous policies.
At the same time, Russia's RIA news agency quoted Andrei Kartapolov, head of the defense committee of the Lower House, as saying that Moscow will retaliate in an unparalleled way for Ukraine's attacks on its land using weapons provided by the United States.
Kartapolov has emphasized that Biden's decision to allow missile attacks with a specific border to be carried out on Russian soil using American weapons will not affect Moscow's military operation in Ukraine.../
