Biden's request from the US Congress to approve the sale of F-16 warplanes to Turkey
The White House announced that US President Joe Biden asked the US Congress to approve the $20 billion contract for the sale of Lockheed Martin F-16 warplanes to Turkey in the letter he wrote on Wednesday local time.
According to CNN, four sources who gave information to Reuters said that the approval of the sale of this contract by the US Congress paved the way for the sale of F-16 fighter jets and modernization kits requested by Ankara to Turkey. According to this source, Biden's letter was sent to the US Congress on Wednesday, and the government has not yet officially informed Congress about its plan to sell F-16 fighter jets and modernization kits. In addition, on Wednesday, the US State Department asked Ankara to officially complete Sweden's membership in NATO, because for this, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan must also sign this law, and from now on, this issue will be forwarded to official authorities. Turkey's newspaper will be published and Sweden's NATO accession document must also be sent from Ankara to Washington.
