Deployment of a Chinese aircraft carrier at the same time as American movements in the region
Media sources reported the deployment of a Chinese aircraft carrier in the South China Sea at the same time as US Navy exercises with South Korea and the Philippines.
According to CCTV, the Chinese Navy aircraft carrier USS Shandong entered the South China Sea on Tuesday at the same time as the US, Philippines and South Korea are conducting exercises in the region. This aircraft carrier is accompanied by three other Chinese warships. This is the third deployment of the USS Shandong to the Western Pacific this year. Meanwhile, exercises between the US Navy and Japanese Navy CSG Reagan and Vinson began on Saturday and are ongoing. These developments come as a spokesman for the Chinese Army's Southern Command recently warned the Philippines to immediately stop provocative actions and avoid escalating tensions. Tensions between China and the Philippines over the South China Sea have increased in recent months. Amid Beijing's warnings to US-loyal countries in the region to refrain from provocative and tension-inducing actions, Japan's prime minister paid a two-day visit to the Philippines on Friday, November 3, to expand Tokyo-Manila-Washington military cooperation in what he called "countering the Chinese threat."
