Every hour a rape incident is reported in the capital of England

Statistics released by the British Police show that one rape incident is reported every hour in the country's capital, London According to the statistics, about 8,800 cases were handled in 2023, which is an average of 24 cases every day.

The figures, reported by the London-based government broadcaster BBC through a Freedom of Information request, show the existence of another 11,000 reports of other sexual offences.

In addition, it has been stated that there has been a 14% increase in the past five years to almost 20,000 cases in 2023, meaning that, on average, sexual violence or rape was reported to the Police every 26 and a half minutes.

However, charitable organizations that help protect children and women from sexual abuse have said, the actual rate of such incidents is greater and higher than reported.

One of those organizations, the London-based Rape Crisis Centre, said the results of the survey were "horrifying," and told the BBC that "urgent change is needed."

The organization has explained that only one out of six women who are raped report the crime. According to these statistics, in terms of male victims, only one out of five report the crime of rape.

And shockingly, police statistics also show that more than 4,300 children were reported to have been raped or sexually abused in the UK in 2023.
