Faisal al-Maqdad: "Israel's attack on civilian areas is a crime against humanity." The Syrian Foreign Minister said: "The rocket attack by the Zionist regime early Sunday morning on civilian areas in Damascus and its suburbs is a crime against humanity." “Especially since this happened at a time when Syria is trying to cope with the catastrophic consequences of the recent earthquake that claimed the lives of many innocent people in Syria and destroyed the infrastructure of this country,” he added. Al-Miqdad further stated: "If the so-called international community does not stop the criminal actions of Israel, then this behavior of the world community encourages this regime to commit new crimes and take the lives of more innocent people." The Syrian Foreign Minister noted that the continuation of the brutal attacks and brutal crimes of the terrorist occupying regime against the peoples of Palestine and Syria is a clear threat to peace and security in the region and beyond.
Faisal al-Miqdad also pointed to the apparent connection between the Daesh terrorist group and the Zionist regime and stated: "The recent crime of Daesh, which resulted in the martyrdom of dozens of unarmed civilians in the eastern suburbs of Homs, was committed almost at the same time that the Zionist regime committed his recent crime in Damascus (early Sunday morning)." He asked the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Security Council to immediately intervene in this matter by condemning the crime of the Zionist regime and reacting to this crime and exerting pressure to lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, which prevented the provision of assistance to the inhabitants of this country affected by earthquakes. As a result of a new air attack by the Zionist regime on a number of areas in Damascus, 5 Syrian citizens were killed and another 15 were injured. During this air strike, Zionist regime fighter jets from the occupied Golan Heights attacked some areas of Damascus and its environs.
