The spokesman of the Palestinian Islamic Struggle Movement HAMAS has called for the creation of a government of "national unity" to manage the affairs of the Palestinians.
Sami Abu Zuhri, a senior member of the Political Office of HAMAS abroad said this today Monday in an interview with al-Jazeera television channel of Qatar and added that the unity government should "include all groups of Palestinians," and manage the issues of the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.
Zuhri has made it clear that, "We do not accept any discrimination between Gaza and the West Bank of the Jordan River, and we are committed to [achieving the creation of] an integrated administration of both areas and Palestinian groups."
He said that HAMAS will be consulting with representatives of other Palestinian groups during the pending negotiations in the capital of Egypt, Cairo, about how to manage Gaza after the end of the ongoing war of the Israeli administration against the besieged area.
In January this year, the Zionist regime proposed that the leadership of Gaza be handed over to unnamed "Palestinian groups", while giving Tel Aviv control of the area's security. However, Hamas has flatly rejected the proposal.
Recently, Palestinian groups including the Hamas and Fat'h movements reached an agreement to unite the Palestinian groups and form a national unity government.
