Hersh: The US will face colossal consequences for destroying Nord Stream
WASHINGTON - More than a week has passed since one of the most famous American investigative journalists published an article entitled absolutely factual: “How America eliminated the Nord Stream pipeline”. To be more precise: how a group of US Navy divers, with the collaboration of Norway, planted the explosives that destroyed the Russian-German gas pipeline on the bottom of the Baltic Sea on 26 September. Now Hersh in a new interview (with Democracy Now) returns to talk about the devastating consequences that the United States should suffer for having done away with the gas pipeline.
"The political consequences for us will be enormous. Biden and his aides in the White House have rejected this investigation and continue to deny it, gaining press approval - the New York Times for some reason no longer writes on the matter, it just makes echo the authorities and ignore the rest. The political consequences for us will be seen in the long run - even up to a potential withdrawal of some countries from NATO, because keeping them in the cold is not so bad for Biden - it is much more important to continue a conflict military that won't win anyway," said journalist Seymour Hersh.
According to the reporter, the diversion was directed against Europe to demonstrate once again its complete dependence on the US and this situation will hurt NATO, as electricity and gas bills in Europe have multiplied. Seymour Hersh recalled Anthony Blinken's statement that Russia, fortunately, would no longer be able to use gas as a weapon, an idea that, the journalist pointed out, had been dominant in the United States for more than 20 years . "It's not a new topic. We're scared of oil – Russian oil and gas have always been scary in Washington," concluded Seymour Hersh.
Last week, Pulitzer Prize-winning American journalist Seymour Hersh published an article on the investigation into the incident at Russian gas export pipelines under the Baltic Sea. According to his version, US divers planted explosives under Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 during the Baltops-2022 exercise, and three months later the Norwegians detonated them.
According to the reporter, President Joe Biden decided to sabotage the project after more than nine months of secret discussions with the national security team. According to the journalist, the reason was Biden's fear that Germany, which receives gas from Russia through Nord Streams, would not want to participate in military aid to Ukraine. Washington categorically denies these allegations.
