In a recent address, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary General of Hezbollah, firmly condemned any attempts to incite rebellion in Lebanon during these challenging times for the country and the broader region. Nasrallah's remarks were made on Monday evening, coinciding with the eve of the anniversary of Imam Hossein's martyrdom, a significant event for Lebanese citizens who will commemorate Ashura Hosseini with grand ceremonies.
According to the Arab News Agency, Nasrallah emphasized the need for unity and vigilance against those who seek to sow discord in Lebanon. He specifically accused certain local media and journalists of furthering the agendas of Israel and the United States, suggesting these efforts were aimed at destabilizing the region.
Nasrallah did not mince words regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he accused of prioritizing political survival over human life. "Netanyahu, leading the genocidal Israeli regime, shows blatant disregard for the lives of children, women, and civilians in Gaza. His administration's primary concern is maintaining power," Nasrallah asserted.
Since October 7, 2023, with the backing of Western nations, Israel has intensified its military operations in Rafah, the southern Gaza Strip, and the West Bank. These actions have targeted the defenseless Palestinian population, drawing international condemnation for the continued violence and alleged human rights violations.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that since the onset of these attacks, at least 38,584 Palestinians have been killed, with 88,881 more wounded. The majority of the casualties are children, women, and the elderly. Furthermore, over 10,000 Palestinians are currently missing and believed to be trapped under rubble, with ongoing conflict and limited resources hampering rescue efforts.
Nasrallah's speech underscored the gravity of the situation, both in Lebanon and Palestine. He called for unity among Lebanese citizens to resist any provocations that could lead to internal strife. The Secretary General's statements reflect a broader regional tension, as various factions navigate the complex political and humanitarian crises unfolding in the Middle East.
