On April 16, 2008, 24-year-old Fadel Shana, a Reuters photographer, was stationed a hundred yards away from the major highway in Gaza, wearing a blue vest marked with the word "Press," his vehicle was similarly labelled "TV."

Shana was documenting the massacre committed by Israeli troops at the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. The final frame he captured was a straight shot of a tank that targeted him. Shana is neither the first nor the last journalist to be assassinated by Zionists. The murder of journalists began decades ago.

Since 1948, journalists documenting atrocities in the occupied territories have been systematically murdered. The last one is Ghufran Warasneh, 31, who died in 2022 in the West Bank. A Zionist soldier shot Ghufran in the chest. T

wo months earlier, Al-Jazeera correspondent Shireen Abu Akleh was slain by a direct shot.Since 2000, 55 journalists have been murdered by Zionists, with UNESCO recording the identities of 21 of them. This number only accounts for those journalists who were assassinated, while those who have disappeared require a separate investigation.
