Jeddah meeting on Ukraine ends without significant results
Two days of negotiations to find a solution to the Ukrainian-Russian war crisis that was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia ended without significant results. Representatives of more than 30 countries including Brazil, Britain, India, China, United States, Turkey, South Africa and also members of the European Union held a meeting on Saturday and Sunday (5-6 August 2023) in Jeddah to find a peaceful solution to the Ukraine crisis. In this meeting the importance of utilizing the proposed views was emphasized, and various parties confirmed that in this meeting various positive suggestions and views were rolled out.
This meeting was held when Russia was not invited to attend, but the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammad bin Salman said he would provide information and reports to Russian President, Vladimir Putin regarding the results of this meeting. In this regard, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated Sunday that the international meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to end the war in Ukraine was a vain attempt by the West to support Ukraine under the pretext of war in this country. Ryabkov also saw this meeting as a vain attempt by the West to mobilize the world community against Russia and increase the number of Ukrainian supporters on the grounds of war in this country. (MF)
