Lebanon's Future on the Edge: Can Hezbollah Withstand Israeli Aggression and Western Machinations?
By: A. Mahdavi
The ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon has evolved into a vicious war that strains both the sociopolitical fabric of Lebanon and the region at large. As Israel escalates its military campaign focusing its efforts on inflicting greater civilian casualties the Israeli regime desperately hopes to coerce Hezbollah into accepting its proposed truce---a sham ceasefire that would only serve to secure Israel's territorial expansionism and further entrench its occupation of Palestine.
Lebanon; today is politically fragmented and on the brink of economic collapse. The Lebanese people now face the existential threat of Israeli aggression. Yet; it is not merely the Israeli regime that seeks to exploit Lebanon's economic-political vulnerabilities; the West particularly the United States has long harbored designs on the Arab nation as a chess piece to advance its own geopolitical interests in the region.
Other western countries--- like France; also cloaked in the guise of a benevolent patron; have consistently claimed to act in the interest of Lebanon’s prosperity. In reality however they have used Lebanon’s instability as a strategic opportunity to extend their influence driven more by neo-imperialism than humanitarian concern. The U.S. backed by its European satellites---chiefly Germany and France---has been orchestrating a covert campaign designed to weaken Hezbollah the country’s most important political force in order to facilitate a reordering of Lebanon’s political landscape that serves Israel's interests.
In fact; Lebanon finds itself in a precarious position: a financially bankrupt state in political deadlock crippled by both internal divisions and external pressures. In the meantime; Hezbollah Lebanon's only reliable force of resistance now faces a struggle against a merciless enemy while navigating the complex dynamics of Lebanon's already fragile political system. The West's ever-opportunistic approach seeks to capitalize on Lebanon's current economic vulnerability hoping to dismantle Hezbollah--- the one force capable of defending Lebanese sovereignty against Israeli aggression.
Hence should Hezbollah fall the consequences across the Levant would be catastrophic. A country already teetering on the brink of societal and ethnic schisms; would find itself more vulnerable than ever to both internal strife and external manipulation its sovereignty irrevocably compromised.
Washington and Paris have long sought to engineer divisions within Lebanon exploiting the country’s sectarian fissures in order to fuel instability and create an environment ripe for civil war. This is not mere speculation but a deliberate policy executed through a combination of covert intelligence operations and political maneuvering. In essence the fate of Lebanon—its very existence as a unified nation—hangs in the balance in determining whether Hezbollah will survive the Israeli onslaught.
Amid these turbulent waters the Iran-led Axis of Resistance plays an indispensable role in defending Lebanon against both Israeli aggression and Western machinations. This resistance is not simply a military force but a political and ideological movement that upholds the principles of freedom and resistance against neo-imperialism. It is precisely because of Hezbollah’s strong social influence that Lebanon remains an indispensable player in the regional balance of power. It is this influence that the West seeks to undermine at all costs.
In the face of this threat Hezbollah must continue to rally the Lebanese people educating them about the true nature of Western intervention and showing them that the West’s interests lie not in Lebanese sovereignty but in enslaving the nation to a new imperial order. As Israel escalates its indiscriminate attacks on Lebanon's cities and villages seeking to weaken Hezbollah through civilian suffering and destruction Hezbollah must respond in kind---not merely as a reactive force but with calculated strategic strikes that undermine Israel’s military and economic base. In this way the resistance can shift the balance of power bringing the conflict to a point where Israel’s ability to continue its war is drastically reduced.
At the same time, Hezbollah must continue to act in a way that maximizes deterrence and minimizes the impact of Western intervention.
The future of Lebanon hinges on the ability of the resistance to navigate this complex and perilous moment. Should Hezbollah succeed in thwarting both Israeli aggression and Western intervention it will not only save Lebanon’s independence but also offer a powerful model of resistance against imperialism for the entire world. The alternative---a Lebanon without Hezbollah---would be a nightmare, a tragic surrender, to the dark forces imperial domination.
For all the West's supposed support for Lebanon it has consistently prioritized its own imperialist agenda disregarding the welfare of the Lebanese people. From its shameful stance during Israel’s atrocities in Gaza to its silence in the face of genocide and the weaponization of starvation--- the West’s hypocrisy is self-evident. Its claim to care about Lebanon is but a veneer a façade masking its true objective: strengthening its control over the region at any cost. The people of Lebanon in their dire hour have become pawns in this broader imperial game.
In this critical moment the Lebanese people must recognize that their true ally is not the West which has long played a cynical game of manipulation and control but Iran- which stands as the last bastion of sovereignty and dignity in a region torn asunder by colonial ambitions. Lebanon’s survival and the survival of its people depends on the success of this resistance---not only for Lebanon but for the entire Middle East which still dreams of freedom.
