Mexico, US military aid to Ukraine is "irrational and harmful"
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has branded the multibillion-dollar funds allocated by US President Joe Biden's administration to Zlensky's Ukraine as irrational, stating that Washington must allocate these resources to help alleviate the migratory crisis afflicting the Latin American countries.
"...how much did they allocate to the war in Ukraine? 30 to 50 billion dollars for the war. Which is the most irrational thing you could have. And harmful," Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said Monday during his press conference daily. He then highlighted a recent measure by the US Congress, which decided to freeze further aid for Ukraine's war against Russia after passing a temporary funding bill to temporarily avoid a US government shutdown.
"I was just seeing that now they don't allow aid for the war in Ukraine... So they have to change their strategy and learn respect," he added. The Mexican head of state has repeatedly called on Washington to allocate more funds to help the economic development of Central America and the Caribbean, as well as to assist these countries in their efforts to curb the flow of migrants to the United States.
the President of the Republic of Mexico, he has widely criticized US behavior and foreign policy, the continuation of this country's interventionist approach regarding the war in Ukraine and American economic sanctions against other countries. The American government has provided more than $43 billion in weapons and other aid to Ukraine, thus prolonging the war in Ukraine with the help of other Western countries. The war in Ukraine, with all its wide-ranging political, military, economic, social and even cultural consequences, is now in its twentieth month and Western countries continue to send weapons to Ukraine.
European and Western countries, especially the USA, by intensifying the pressure of sanctions against the Russian Federation and supplying all kinds of light and heavy weapons to Kiev, not only did not take any steps towards ending the war in Ukraine, but also fueled the fires of conflict in this country. Russian officials and some Western experts and media have described the war in Ukraine as a proxy war between the West and Russia. Russia has repeatedly said that sending Western weapons to Ukraine will only prolong the conflict in this country and will have unpredictable consequences.
