Nimbus Agreement and Layoffs of Google Employees

Nimbus Agreement and Layoffs of Google Employees

Although Google fired some of its employees who protested Israeli crimes against Palestine, these employees continue to raise their voices against the contract with Israel called "Nimbus" and say "We will not work for genocide."

About a month ago, Google fired a software engineer for supporting Palestine. “I refuse to produce technology that empowers genocide,” this employee loudly shouted during a conference.

While the Google spokesperson did not explain the reason for the dismissal of this employee, he said, "This person was dismissed for interfering with an official event."

However, Google employees continued to protest against the company's $1.2 billion contract with the Zionists, known as "Project Nimbus," in offices in various cities such as New York, Sunnyvale and California.

Continuing its dismissal policy against protesters against Israel's crimes, Google has fired more than 50 employees so far. According to this contract signed in 2021, Google will support Israel's military vehicles and provide cloud computing services to Israel.

The Worrying Aspect of the Nimbus Agreement:

Another worrying aspect of the Nimbus deal is that the Israeli regime and its agents have access to large amounts of Google's data and information of people around the world. In other words, by establishing close relationships with companies such as Google, Israel can access their databases and use this data for criminal and espionage activities against the Palestinian people.

In the past, Google was known for its relaxed work environment and interaction with its employees. But right now, there is tension that extends to Google employees trying to protect Israel.

According to the news, a total of 9 people were arrested as a result of the protests of company employees in California and New York. The next evening, Google began layoffs. The company initially described this situation as administrative leave, but later sent an email to these people informing them that they had been laid off.

Google argued that some protesting employees were clearly violating Google's policies by disrupting the work of other employees and should therefore be fired.

The Edge of Freedom

It seems that after years of restricting the freedom of Palestinians, Israel is also implementing this policy in countries that support it, restricting freedom of expression even in countries that defend freedom of expression.

Perhaps, when the 93-meter Statue of Liberty, gifted to Americans by France and peacefully located on the shores of New York, was erected, no one thought that after the seventh October and the Al-Aqsa flood, the scandal of freedom of expression would explode louder than ever in this country.

After this date, and as the Zionist regime faced an existential crisis, the countries supporting this regime did their best to counter Palestine defenders and Israel critics, ignoring all their slogans about freedom of expression. Now opposition to freedom of expression extends beyond states and police forces to include major technology companies.

Of course, Google has a dark history of collaborating with criminals in the past. In 2018, Google and the US Department of Defense worked together on "Project Maven", an artificial intelligence project to increase the precision of drone attacks. Human rights advocates emphasized that year that the technology was originally designed to be used by the Israeli military against Palestinians.

Now experts on the Nimbus project believe that Google's services will be offered to the Zionist army and that the Israelis are trying to create superior military logistics.

It is also said that if Google continues with this contract, it will soon face a crisis in terms of protesting employees. The company's employees chose the slogan "Googlers Against Genocide" for their protest and wrote it on T-shirts and banners. Many images of this slogan have been published, and its last word (the word meaning genocide) was designed with the colors of the Google logo.
