North Korea backs BRICS expansion
North Korean state media called the expansion of the BRICS a factor in accelerating the process of ending the dominance of the US dollar. The BRICS group was formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Members of this group carry out financial transactions with national currencies and try to create a new international currency that would not depend on the US dollar.
Almost half of the world's population and more than a quarter of the world's GDP belongs to the BRICS group. The recent BRICS meeting was held earlier this month in the Republic of South Africa with the participation of the foreign ministers of the member countries.Beijing has always supported the idea of expanding the BRICS and other countries, including Iran, are in favor of joining this group.
According to the DPRK Central News Agency (KCNA), Yun Il-hyun, a prominent analyst on North Korean foreign affairs, criticizing the US for instrumental use of the dollar and militarism to impose its hegemony on the world, added: "Unprecedented international actions to limit the use of the US dollar and increase the desire many countries of the world to join the BRICS will accelerate the process of dollar dominance and the dominance of Washington."
"The United States is doing everything to maintain the superiority of the dollar as the main currency. Among the actions of Washington to achieve its goals, one can point to the imposition of financial sanctions against other countries of the world," he added.
