Pro-Palestinian students, University of Michigan, United States, stormed their campus's Chancellor's Building, carrying a message to the Chancellor about Palestine. Quoted by the Click on Detroit website, Friday (17/11/2023) pro-Palestinian students broke into the Alexander G. Ruthven Building, to convey their aspirations regarding Israel's war against the Gaza Strip. The students protested, and sat inside the University of Michigan Chancellor's Building, in a demonstration that started at 15:40. The university then called the police and asked them to give a warning to the students involved in the demonstration inside the rectorate building, in the form of a letter of demand. Police said the students broke open the door to the administration office, and they also bypassed security forces and police to enter the building. The police then acted harshly against the students. One University of Michigan employee said, "I honestly told one of the police, if you let students in, this would be a peaceful protest. But the police are blocking anyone from getting into the building." No arrests were made by the police, however, all students who insisted on being in the Chancellor's Office received letters of demand from the police. University of Michigan students, protesting inside the Chancellor's Office on their campus, called the police "Israeli protégés." According to Newsweek, since the Zionist regime launched a brutal attack on Gaza, protests supporting Palestine have spread widely throughout the United States, including on campuses. (HS)
