Putin: 'It's nonsense' to claim that Russia is planning a military attack on NATO

Putin said this when he visited the Torzhok Air Force base in the Tver region.

The President of Russia has announced this position following the statements of several Western officials who have encouraged and trumpeted the issue of providing additional military aid to Ukraine claiming that Moscow will not stop military attacks if Kiev is defeated on the battlefield.

"This is just nonsense," said Putin, noting the difference in Russia's defense spending compared to NATO's military budgets; and he added by saying: "the claim that we will attack Europe after Ukraine is pure nonsense and the threats they give to their own people just to squeeze money out of them".

The President of Russia has clarified by saying, American satellites located in Eastern Europe have no reason to fear, because talks about the possibility of an attack by Russia against Poland, the Czech Republic or the Baltic countries are just government propaganda trying to scare their citizens so that to take from them additional costs by making them carry the burden on their shoulders.

In his speech, Putin has continued to explain that it is NATO that has been expanding towards Russia's borders, not the other way around; and that what Moscow is doing is to protect its people only in the areas of its historical land.

The President of Russia said: "They came to our borders... Did we cross the ocean to the borders of the United States? No, they are approaching us, and they are very close".../
