The war in Ukraine, which seemed to end in a few days but has now turned into a war of attrition, entered its second year last Saturday.

Many international experts think that Washington is the main actor in the grand coalition that wants to escalate tensions in Ukraine, aiming to inject weapons into the battlefield and continue this into the unknown future. Since February 22, 2022, when the war began in Ukraine, whenever peace is discussed, US officials bring up the issue that the war could be prolonged and that the world should prepare for a war that could last for years. Washington's first reason and interest in this path is to try to weaken Russia. The White House believes that the continuation of this war will mean that Moscow will be forced to allocate significant resources to its political goals of eliminating the source of military threats in Ukraine and gaining equal status in the European security structure in the post-war period. Biden and Zelensky The second reason is that the United States is interested in cutting off cooperation between Russia and Europe in the field of energy. This policy has evolved over the decades since the Cold War, when the CIA-planned and US-run Nord Stream gas pipeline was sabotaged, according to Seymour Hersh's revelations. This can be considered in line with the long-term US strategy of cutting off extensive relations between Russia and key European economies. In fact, America's ultimate goal is to replace Russia in supplying energy to Europe and, in addition, to create more difficult conditions for European industries so that American goods face less competition from European countries and strengthen their production.

In July this year, US media reported that some US oil companies were making huge profits while European citizens were struggling with the highest inflation in recent years. For example, in the first months after the start of the war in Ukraine, ExxonMobil announced that it made a profit of 17.9 billion dollars in the second quarter of 2022, while the company's profit in the first 3 months of 2022 was 5.5 billion dollars. Shortly afterwards, the President of the European Commission touched upon the same issue in a speech, addressing companies mostly of American origin: "It is currently not right to exploit the war to obtain unprecedented profits at the expense of customers." America's third goal is to encourage Europe to mobilize and remilitarize its military industry. The United States admits that long-term military competition is impossible if conducted solely by American forces. In addition, the United States perceives the growing threat posed to it by China and expects its resources to be diverted to a conflict in the Pacific in the near future. Therefore, Washington is looking for ways to mobilize the European Union's military-industrial complex on the European stage. And Washington's fourth goal in prolonging the war in Ukraine is to rally its European allies to confront America's opponents, including Russia, China and Iran. However, due to the difficulties they face, Americans may have to leave the war they started to Russia; Thus, we are faced with a new world order that is not based on American hegemony.
