according NHK South Korea's Unification Minister Kim Yong-ho said in a public interview on Saturday: "According to the law, the US needs congressional approval to reduce its 28,500 troops in South Korea. So this is unlikely to happen." 

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that North Korea's coastal artillery unit fired more than 200 rounds at South Korean islands in the Yellow Sea. South Korean defense forces carried out maneuvers in response to North Korean artillery attacks on two islands on their common border, according to NHK. According to the South Korean Army Joint Staff report, the country's navy units participated in exercises on the islands of Yeonpyeong and Baengnyongdo. The South Korean side bombed nearby waters using K-9 self-propelled howitzers. Also today, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that North Korea's coastal artillery unit fired more than 200 rounds at South Korean islands in the Yellow Sea. No one was injured in these attacks. These projectiles fell on the de facto border between the two Koreas. South Korea also ordered the evacuation of these areas. Meanwhile, the Sputnik news agency also reported that Pyongyang announced the launch of artillery shells in response to South Korea's drills.
