President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt has been sworn in before the country's parliament to serve a third term as a citizen of the country.
He is said to have won last December's election by 89.6 percent against his three less popular opponents among Egyptians.
The six-year term of the seat will enable him to rule the country as president until 2030.
Speaking in front of the parliament on Tuesday, Sisi promised to lead the country faithfully, focusing only on the national interest. According to the Egyptian constitution, this should be his last term to lead the country.
The former Egyptian army chief came to power after a coup in 2013 against the country's first democratically elected president, Muhammad Mursi. He was elected a citizen of Egypt the following year and also in 2018. He changed the constitution and made the term of citizenship from 6 years to four, and also the terms of leadership from two to three terms.
