The MEP of United for Catalonia (JxCat), Clara Ponsati, was arrested and transferred to the City of Justice in Barcelona to collect her testimony after returning to Spain. Sources from the Interior Ministry told the "Europa Press" news agency that the pro-independence exponent was arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra, who acted as judicial police on the order of the judge for the crime of disobedience for the illegal referendum of 2017. Ponsati herself had announced shortly before that she had been "illegally detained again in Barcelona", in a tweet published this morning. Ponsati does not enjoy the immunity of MEP after a ruling by the Court of Justice of the EU. A decision that also affects the former president of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, and MEP Toni Comin. Ponsati had revealed her return to Barcelona on social networks where she had uploaded several photos to show her stay in the Catalan capital.
