Ukrainian MP Aleksey Goncharenko has said that the first group of French military trainers is on its way to the country.
This comes a few days after the commander-in-chief of Ukraine, Aleksandr Syrsky, announced that he has approved the presence of French troops in the country.
Goncharenko, who is a member of the parliament of Ukraine and a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, has written on the Internet X: "my sources have informed me that the first group of French trainers is already on its way to Ukraine".
It will be remembered that, in February, French President Emmanuel Macron said he could not rule out the possibility of member states of the Western military organization NATO sending troops to Ukraine in the future, although French officials recently clarified that he meant non-combatant troops. Macron later said that NATO should adopt a policy of "strategic ambiguity" in relation to Russia.
Bloomberg reported yesterday that the French leader has been working behind the scenes to create a coalition of countries willing to send military trainers to Kiev.
This comes as Moscow has warned that any additional military aid to Kiev will complicate the war.
On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin told the media that Western troops are already working in Ukraine and clarified by saying: "they have been there for a long time, they are [foreign] experts under the guise of mercenaries".
Putin warned that the deployment of Western military forces in Ukraine would be "another step towards a major European and global conflict".../
