The head of UNRWA strongly condemned Israel's ploy to demand that the Palestinian aid organization be dissolved

The head of the United Nations Organization responsible for helping the Palestinians, UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini has strongly criticized the campaign of the Zionist administration of Israel to destroy the organization.

Lazzarini made the statement in front of the members of the United Nations Security Council stressing by saying: "today, the insidious campaign to shut down UNRWA's operations continues, with a major impact on international peace and security".

Lazzarini has continued to point out that although the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is still very bad, UNRWA feels compelled to carry out its duties due to the Israeli authorities denying it the opportunity to provide aid in northern Gaza despite the order of the International Court of Justice ICJ to increase the flow of aid in the besieged area.

The head of UNRWA has explained that the authority of his organization is supported by many member states of the Security Council, however the organization is facing great pressures.

Explaining the issue, Lazzarini said, they are facing a campaign to expel them from the occupied Palestinian land and that in Gaza, the Israeli government wants to end the activities of UNRWA.

Strongly criticizing the decision, the UN official said, UNRWA buildings and workers have been targeted since the Zionist regime started the war against the Palestinians of Gaza, and that 178 workers of the organization have been killed in attacks by the regime's army.

In terms of the occupied West Bank, Lazzarini said, the situation there is also very worrying due to the arbitrary measures taken by Israel to prevent the presence and movement of UNRWA workers.

At the end of his speech, the Head of the United Nations Organization responsible for helping the Palestinians has called on the members of the Security Council of the union to preserve the important role of UNRWA, for member countries to provide political support commensurate with the funding they provide.../
