In a statement issued after an extraordinary meeting held in the Turkish port city of Istanbul, the information ministers of the member states have called on the aggressive Israeli regime to "unconditionally cease fighting" to prevent further loss of Palestinian lives in the besieged Gaza Strip. They also criticized Israel's disinformation campaigns, accusing the occupation regime of spreading false and misleading information to cover up its criminal activities. IOC ministers condemned the brutal Israeli army for "deliberately and systematically" targeting Palestinian journalists, stressing that this was part of a campaign to "silence the voices of those who speak the truth". The statement also condemned the Israeli forces for disrupting the telecommunications system in the Gaza Strip, and called on the international community to open an "immediate investigation" into this crime and hold the Israeli government responsible for occupying the Palestinian territories. Elsewhere in their statement, the ministers of information of the Islamic countries reiterated that "the only way to peace and security in this region is through the recognition of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including national independence and sovereignty while East Quds is is the capital of the independent state of Palestine. Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran has called for the creation of a special strategy in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which will copy the crimes committed by the Zionist regime of Israel against the Palestinians. Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili has said that the collection of concrete evidence can help hold Israel responsible for its criminal and inhumane actions against the Palestinians. Esmaili has noted that, Iran is calling for strengthening media cooperation among OIC member countries, as part of supporting the Palestinians in Gaza. The genocidal war between the US and Israel against Gaza is in its 143rd day, with airstrikes and shelling continuing on the besieged strip. About 30,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 7, most of them women and children.
