The plight of Palestinian prisoners in Zionist prisons
In its statement, the Palestinian Hostage Club has warned about the dire situation of the hostages held in the prisons of the apartheid regime of Israel.
Before the start of the Gaza war on October 7, 2023, the number of Palestinian captives in Zionist jails was around 5,000. The number of hostages has doubled in the past 5 months, of the genocide of the Zionist regime against the residents of the Gaza Strip. According to the announcement of the Palestine Hostage Club, 9100 Palestinians (including children and women) are being held in terrible prisons and in very bad conditions of the Zionist regime.
In addition to the genocide in Gaza, the Israeli regime has also increased its brutality against Palestinian prisoners. This issue is also indicated in the statement of the club of hostages and prisoners of Palestine. It states that since the start of the Al-Aqsa Storm operation on October 7, 2023, the Israeli prisons department has intensified the torture against Palestinian prisoners.
One of the crimes committed by the regime occupying the Holy Quds against Palestinian prisoners is to deprive them of food and starve them. In fact, the politics of starving prisoners and captives along with torturing them, including women and children, is one of the dirty policies implemented by the Al-Quds regime since October 7. This situation has caused the hostages and prisoners serious physical problems, especially in their digestive system.
The Committee on the Issues of Captives and Released Persons (affiliated with the Palestinian Authority) recently warned about the policies of starving Palestinian prisoners, which are carried out by the Zionist regime in its prisons. While marking the meeting of its lawyers with a number of Palestinian prisoners, the committee has announced that, on average, Palestinian prisoners in Zionist prisons have lost between 15 and 25 kilograms.
Another issue is that the little food given to prisoners is not prepared in a clean environment. Incorrect methods of food preparation and consumption make the prisoners' bodies easily susceptible to viruses and various diseases. In relation to that issue, and according to reliable reports, the number of sick prisoners has increased, and since October 7, starvation is still used as a tool to punish captives and prisoners in those jails.
In addition, the Zionist prisons department refuses to treat and give medicine to sick prisoners. The Committee dealing with the Issues of Palestinian Prisoners and linked to the Palestinian Authority has emphasized on the matter that the denial of medicine and treatment to sick prisoners in the winter season this year has greatly affected their health, where the occupying regime did not even allow the prisoners to be sent appropriate clothes protect yourself from the cold.
Another issue is that, despite the poor health conditions faced by the prisoners, the Zionist regime has also denied them their religious rights. In parallel with the start of the holy month of Ramadan, the Zionist regime has prevented Palestinian prisoners from performing their religious duties in these terrible prisons.
