The West seeks to politicize the International Atomic Energy Agency

68th annual meeting of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, pointing out that Western countries always try to impose their political positions on the International Atomic Energy Agency, the permanent representative of Russia to international organizations based in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said: - One of the vivid examples of such a problem is Canada's resolution regarding nuclear security in Ukraine.
Ulyanov added: "The authors of this resolution seek to incorporate the powers of the United Nations Security Council into this General Conference and the Board of Governors of the Agency, and they raise issues of war and peace, territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as the withdrawal of armed forces and similar topics, and the General Conference in the current session, such politicization is observed in the speeches of the Western countries.
The main conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency was held in Vienna, the capital of Austria, from September 16 to 20, 2024.
The General Assembly of the International Atomic Energy Agency is the main policy-making body of the Agency, consisting of all member states. This conference is held every year in September at the agency's headquarters in Vienna, and high-ranking officials and representatives of member states discuss some issues.
