UN Reporter: Israel's genocide against the Gaza Strip is "the collective shame of the century"

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories has described the ongoing genocide by Israel in the Gaza Strip as the "common shame of the century" while the international community fails to protect the rights of Palestinians.

Mrs. Francesca Albanese has explained this in her message she sent on the X social network if more than a year has passed since the Israeli genocide against the residents of Gaza which has killed thousands of innocent people and caused almost the entire community of the strip below of the siege to be refugees.

"In Gaza, the common shame of this century continues unabated against all moral principles and all international laws," said the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

He has said that the Palestinians are tired of the constant attacks against them and that the indiscriminate killings, the forced displacement of many people and other evil acts of violence that are carried out by the soldiers of the occupying regime against the citizens in the Gaza Strip are all a shameful testimony. of silence and failure to take action by the international community to protect basic human rights.

Tel Aviv's brutal regime has so far killed at least 42,603 Palestinian martyrs, most of them women and children, and injured 99,795 others. These figures are according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.

The international human rights organization has announced that: We witness that, despite Israel's attacks on Lebanon and Gaza, European countries continue to send weapons to that regime. We want Israel to be completely removed economically due to the human rights violations committed by that regime.

In another part of its statement, Amnesty International has said: The nations of the world should impose arms embargoes on Israel. These restrictions should not only include arms restrictions, but some products used in the production of these weapons should also be restricted. Among the European countries, Germany, by guaranteeing 30% of the weapons of the Israeli occupation regime, has contributed greatly to the continued killing of Palestinians in Gaza and the killing of Lebanese citizens.

After starting the war in Gaza following the Al-Aqswa Hurricane operation on October 7, 2023 and the unprecedented crimes of the Zionist regime against the oppressed people of Gaza, especially the genocide and the use of hunger as a weapon and creating a famine, the issue of imposing arms embargoes on Israel has taken a wider scope in line with increasing pressures and isolation of the Zionist regime of Israel. Calls and movements to impose sanctions on Israel have reached the international level where many institutions and countries have been calling for the imposition of arms embargoes on Israel.

Demonstrations calling for the isolation and boycott of Israel

However, this demand has been ignored by the United States, which is the main supporter of Israel, along with some European countries, especially Germany. Despite this, the citizens of many European countries have taken strong positions against the Zionist regime and by organizing demonstrations and gatherings of people as well as sit-down strikes, they have wanted to stop Israel's invasion and aid to the people of Gaza.

The United Nations also wants to increase sanctions against Israel to pressure it to end the war in Gaza.

Michael Fakhri, the United Nations special rapporteur on food rights, said in mid-June this year that: What we need now is for Israel to be subject to economic and political sanctions.

The emphasis of the special rapporteur of the United Nations in matters of the right to food on the necessity of economic and political sanctions against Israel is given due to the ineffectiveness of political pressure and the neglect by Tel Aviv of the demands to stop the war in Gaza and the genocide carried out with the aim of exterminating the oppressed people of the Zone.

The Zionist regime of Israel is not only witnessing an unprecedented increase in sanctions against its affiliated institutions including its universities and scientific centers, but now these sanctions have taken a wide scope and reached the level of military and weapons cooperation between companies. West and Israel.

More than 43,000 Palestinians have been martyred since Israel launched its brutal offensive in the Gaza Strip in October 2023.

In that sequence, even European countries have reconsidered cooperation with Israeli arms companies. The Reuters news agency, citing two sources, has reported that France has banned Israeli companies from participating in the country's naval weapons exhibition.

This report, published on Wednesday, October 16, mentions the ban on the presence of Israeli companies as another sign of the growing conflict between France and the violent Israeli regime.

France previously barred Israeli companies from participating in another arms exhibition that took place earlier this year.

The French Ministry of Defense says that, as long as President Emmanuel Macron wants to stop Israeli military operations in Gaza, the presence of Israeli companies in the arms exhibition is not appropriate. This exhibition is scheduled to take place from 4 to 7 November this year.

Despite this, some of Israel's European allies, especially Germany and the UK, have held positions in support of the Zionist regime and continue to send military equipment to the violent regime and even defend Israel's crimes during the Gaza war, especially the killing of civilians.

In this regard, the speech of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalena Baerbock at the meeting of the German Federal Parliament on October 10, during the anniversary of the first anniversary of the Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip, held on October 7, 2023, was met with radiation big.

Demonstrations against Germany's move to continue providing weapons to Israel, which is committing murder in Palestine

At the meeting, the German Foreign Minister claimed that Hamas hides in public gatherings and schools and said: Of course, self-defense means eliminating terrorists and not just attacking them. He added that, it is because of that reason, I explained to the United Nations that civilian areas may also lose their protection status due to terrorists misusing them.

However, this position of the German Foreign Minister was met with the response of the United Nations. On October 15, Francesca Albanese, the United Nations special representative for Palestinian Affairs, condemned Baerbok's statements defending Israel's attacks on Palestinian refugee sites in Gaza and warned of the legal consequences of supporting a regime that commits crimes and crimes. international.

There is no doubt that, while Israel is under pressure from all sides to isolate it and put pressure and restrictions on it due to making terrible names against the people of Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip.
