Ms. Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, stressed in an interview with Al Jazeera television that: "What Israel is doing in the West Bank is shameful and illegal." She said, Israel is doing everything it can to occupy the remaining Palestinian territories and is currently doing so in the West Bank as it did in the Gaza Strip.
Albanese said: What happened on October 7, 2023, cannot justify all the aggression and crimes currently being committed by Israel, including its plots to restart the war on Gaza.
The UN Special Rapporteur continued to point out that: Although Israel has not faced any attack in the West Bank, the residents of those areas are subjected to acts of violence and arbitrary measures similar to those that befell the residents of the Gaza Strip; and at the same time, the international community and Arab countries have failed to take any meaningful action against the aggression of the Zionist regime.
The UN Special Rapporteur added: "No security justification can prevent or deprive Palestinian citizens of their religious freedom."
