United States Approves $6.75 Billion Arms Agreement with Israel Amid Escalating Controversy

The United States Department of State has sanctioned a prospective armament agreement valued at $6.75 billion with Israel, indicating a sustained provision of military assistance to the Israeli government, notwithstanding escalating global apprehensions.

As reported by the Pentagon, the agreement encompasses 18,000 explosives along with supplementary guided munitions packages, with the commencement of deliveries anticipated in 2025. Among the principal elements are 3,000 Hellfire missiles, scheduled for delivery by the year 2028.

The Hellfire AGM-114, an air-to-surface missile predominantly employed by the United States and its allies, is engineered to engage armored vehicles, fortifications, and dynamic targets. The recent arms agreement is a continuation of efforts initiated by the Trump administration to obtain authorization for $1 billion in military sales to Israel. This package includes substantial military hardware, such as the "GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb," colloquially referred to as the "mother of all bombs," as reported by the German publication *Bild*.

Human rights organizations have vehemently condemned the continued sales of arms. Human Rights Watch has recently published a report denouncing the United States for its involvement in sustaining human rights violations perpetrated by Israel, facilitated by ongoing military assistance. The report underscored that the United States has been implicated in these violations, particularly as American-manufactured weaponry has been employed by Israeli forces in Gaza, where allegations of war crimes persist.

Notwithstanding these apprehensions, the United States has upheld its position by delivering unprecedented levels of military assistance since October 7, 2023, thereby ensuring that Israel is adequately equipped for its ongoing military operations.
