US Think Tank: Delivery of Abrams Tanks Will Not Change Outcome of Ukraine War
A United States think tank assesses that sending 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine is nothing more than a symbolic step and that the arrival of these tanks on the Ukrainian battlefield will not change the outcome of the war. The United States think tank, Atlantic Council, in its report on Saturday (30/9/2023) called the sending of dozens of Abrams thanks a purely symbolic act.
The Abrams tank has the technical capabilities to advance on the battlefield, but its logistical challenges should not be underestimated. According to the report, the Abrams tank is known for its high fuel consumption, so its operational range will be limited. On the other hand, all Western-supplied Ukrainian tanks use different ammunition and have their own problems. Russia has repeatedly condemned the transfer of weapons and defense equipment from Western countries to Ukraine, and stressed that these weapons will not change the realization of Russia's goals in Ukraine and will only prolong the war in Ukraine and the suffering of the people of this country.
Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, said the shipment of Abrams tanks showed that Western countries were exaggerating the impact of these tanks on the outcome of the war in Ukraine, while this equipment would be destroyed like other equipment in the battle with Russia. Over the past few days, a senior Ukrainian government official said that Ukrainian ammunition production facilities were moved abroad due to fear of Russian attacks. Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, said that after Russia's successful attacks on ammunition production facilities, Ukraine has moved some of its ammunition production facilities abroad.
