Now Rudy Giuliani admits it: after the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump's then lawyer ... spread false and defamatory news about fraud in Georgia. But, he adds, these were allegations protected by freedom of expression and did not harm those involved. The former mayor of New York is involved in an investigation after two citizens of the state, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss, denounced him: Giuliani, as well as the conservative association One America News, had relaunched a video depicting the two women who counted votes in Fulton County.

One America News compensated them last year with an amount that has not been disclosed to settle the dispute. Now Giuliani confesses, in a two-page legal document filed in a federal court in Washington, that his statements "were inherently defamatory." And that others were "prosecutable" and "false". But, he specifies, these admissions do not clash with the thesis according to which the accusations he launched against Freeman and his daughter «are opinions protected by freedom.
