Venezuelan Complaint Against Trump
The Venezuelan Parliament is filing a lawsuit with the International Criminal Court against former US President Donald Trump.Continuing Washington's anti-Venezuelan policy, Trump blacklisted the Venezuelan oil company PDVSA in 2019 during his presidency to put pressure on one of the country's most important sources of income.
According to AAA, the National Assembly of Venezuela, in turn, established a special commission to investigate the statements of former US President Donald Trump regarding the South American country."On Thursday, a special commission was formed to determine whether criminal statements <...> fall under the criminal responsibility of former President of the United States of America Donald Trump," the Venezuelan parliament said on Twitter.
In early June, speaking to supporters in North Carolina, Trump said that at the end of his term, "Venezuela was on the verge of collapse" and the US could allegedly take over all of the country's oil.The first deputy chairman of the National Assembly, Pedro Infante, said that the parliamentary investigation would also be aimed at identifying "national accomplices" of the United States who demanded the introduction of American sanctions against Venezuela. He stressed that Trump's "frank confession" testifies to the anti-Venezuelan policy of the United States.
Meanwhile, Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez last Wednesday at a ceremony marking the 212th anniversary of the country's independence called Washington's sanctions against Caracas a "crime against humanity."
