John Kirby, Sunday (31/12/2023) said, "We don't want a wider conflict in this region, and we don't want to get involved in a conflict with the Houthis." He added, "The best outcome in this matter is to stop the Houthi attacks, as we have explained repeatedly." At the same time, John Kirby, said, "We have significant national security interests in this region, and we will deploy the necessary forces to protect them." The US National Security Council Coordinator further emphasized, "We will take action to defend ourselves in the future." According to Kirby, the US has not ruled out any possibility, but it has spoken to the Houthis, publicly, and to US allies in the region privately. "The US takes Houthi threats seriously, and we will make the right decisions in the future," he concluded.
