Yemen Intensifies Attacks Amid Gaza Conflict: Over 200 Airstrikes Target Israel

Since the onset of the Gaza war, Yemen has escalated its military actions against Israel, launching over 200 airstrikes and rockets, according to Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot. The attacks have been a significant component of the broader regional conflict, with Yemen's involvement adding a new layer of complexity to the already tense situation.

In a notable incident early on July 19, a Yaffa Advanced Targeting System (ATS) missile struck Tel Aviv, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to eight others. The missile reportedly traveled approximately 2,000 kilometers, maneuvering through various directions to evade Israeli radar systems, before hitting a building near the US Embassy. Reports suggest the missile approached from a low altitude, bypassing multiple layers of Israel's defense systems.

Further escalating the regional conflict, Iraqi Resistance forces conducted an attack on a significant target in Haifa on Saturday, expressing solidarity with Gaza. Concurrently, Hezbollah, the Islamic resistance movement in Lebanon, targeted Ramot Naftali in northern Israel. Following the drone attack, security alarms were activated on Hashgar Island in northern Israel. Hezbollah also targeted a Zionist military assembly in Malikia.

The international community continues to seek ways to halt the hostilities and address the occupation issues. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has deemed the construction and expansion of Israeli settlements illegal. This decision has been met with approval from various Palestinian and international actors.

Palestinian UN Ambassador Riyad Mansour lauded the ICJ's decision, urging increased pressure on Israel to end its occupation of Palestinian territories. He emphasized the need for Palestinians to achieve their inalienable rights, including self-determination, political consolidation, and the return of refugees.

Hamas has also welcomed the ICJ's ruling, calling on the UN General Assembly and the Security Council to take decisive actions to end the occupation and Israel's repeated violations of international resolutions. The group highlighted the ICJ's numerous resolutions calling for an end to the ongoing violence in Gaza, the facilitation of humanitarian aid, and the cessation of military operations in Rafah. Despite these resolutions, Israel, with the backing of the US, has continued its military activities.
