28 political parties in India to unite against Modi in the May 2024 elections
28 opposition parties in India have decided to jointly participate in the 2024 general election against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the aim of preventing the third consecutive victory of the ruling Hindu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The 28-party bloc, called the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), announced yesterday that it will make plans to share seats in different states to avoid dividing votes in favor of Modi's party. The statement issued by the political union said: "we, the INDIA parties, are determined to participate in the next Lok Sabha elections together as much as we can".
The statement went on to explain that plans to share seats in different states will be initiated quickly and reach their conclusion at the earliest in the spirit of give-and-take cooperation. Meeting of 28 parties to form alliance against Narendra Modi Indian National Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi yesterday joined other senior opposition leaders - including Sharad Pawar, Arvind Kejriwal, Sitaram Yechury and Lalu Prasad Yadav - in a meeting. of two days held in Mumbai, the financial and entertainment capital of India. The aim of the meeting is said to be to start a direct fight by putting one candidate against the BJP candidate in each electoral district.
