A new Islamic Jihad brigade to face Israeli soldiers in the West Bank
The New Brigade has been created by the movement to fight for the liberation of Palestine of Islamic Jihad to face the illegal Israeli regime in the West Bank. The new brigade, which has been named Tulkarm, is located in the Palestinian refugee camp in the city of the same name. According to a Wednesday report by Al-Alam news network, the Tulkarm Brigade will be an extension of the Al-Quds Brigade which operates in the occupied West Bank, the brigade's spokesman said, adding that the main mission of the force the new one will be to protect Tulkarm Camp from Israeli invasion. "The Tulkarm force has been formed to respond to the crimes of the Zionists in the Tulkarm Camp ... We are telling the invaders that we are ready to respond to their aggression," the spokesman said on condition of anonymity. Tulkarm is in the northwest of the occupied West Bank and its refugee camp has seen an increase in Israeli military attacks since last year.
This comes as part of a larger trend of attacks by Israeli forces and settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank over the past 16 months. The main reason for the flare-up of fighting is Israel's continued construction of illegal settlements for Zionist settlers in the West Bank, an area that it captured and occupied after the 1967 war with the Arabs. Violence has also worsened in the Palestinian territories in recent months as Israel's far-right cabinet continues to carry out provocative actions at the al-Aqsa Mosque in Al Quds (Jerusalem), the city of third for sanctity in Islam, especially by allowing radical Zionists to invade the Islamic region. The number of Palestinians that Israel has martyred in the occupied Palestinian lands and Gaza has exceeded 200 this year. Most of these deaths occurred in the West Bank. This makes 2023 the worst year for Palestinians in the West Bank since 2005, when the United Nations began recording deaths.
